During a severe cyclonic event, cyclic forces can induce fatigue in roofing materials, their supports and fixings; fatigue which often limits the performance of a component or system. These forces must be considered when designing or selecting cladding materials, their fasteners and supports.

To assist in the design and installation of buildings using LYSAGHT® roofing and walling materials, refer to the Cyclonic Area Design Manual downloadable below. This manual details results of extensive testing conducted in Lysaght's NATA accredited testing laboratory, using the direct pressure testing rig which offers the full benefits of the latest methods for modelling wind pressure. Testing was conducted in accordance with the new low-high-low requirements of the revised Building Code of Australia which became effective 1st May 2009.

Critical in the design, successful installation and performance of steel roofing and walling in Cyclonic Areas is the installation of the TOPSPAN® Batten Support Structure. Ongoing Research and Development by Lysaght at it's NATA accredited testing laboratory has shown that the design of TOPSPAN® systems must account for fatigue in Cyclonic Areas. As such Lysaght has included the TOPSPAN® information in the Cyclonic Area Design Manual to provide building professionals with relevant design data. This manual is available for download below.
